the RPQ-s Qualification for flying unmanned aerial vehicles.
IS RETINAIR FULLY INSURED?
Yes. Retinair is fully insured with £5 million public liability cover.
CAN YOUR REMOTE PILOTS SUPPLY A FULL ENHANCED
Yes we can provide a full enhanced disclosure if requested.
WHAT WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN’T YOU FLY IN?
Unfortunately, we cannot fly in the rain or at night. Strong winds can also be a problem (especially if we
are flying near to trees or other objects) however, we use high-end camera gimbals which will secure very sturdy shots, however, the safety of people & the drone is paramount.
CAN YOU FLY INDOORS?
WHERE CAN YOU FLY?
We can fly almost anywhere. Even around airports, our smaller platforms can be used subject to relevant air
traffic clearance. We have certain safety parameters we have to adhere to which we are happy to discuss & we conduct thorough site surveys & risk assessments prior to every flight. We will never fly unless it can be completed safely.
We are based in North West England although we do travel & are happy to discuss this.
CAN YOU GET TO REMOTE AREAS?
Our remote pilots undergo significant physical training – we can get the kit to places other may not. All our kit is
carried in 4x4 vehicles. We can complete overnight stays too & have the necessary equipment.
WILL RETINAIR TRAVEL TO WORK OUTSIDE THE UK?
CAN YOU BROADCAST LIVE TO THE WEB?
Yes. Subject to sufficient 4G / WIFI signal, one of our drones can produce a live feed to YouTube & a
shareable link which can be distributed.
CAN WE SEE WHAT THE DRONE SEES LIVE ON THE GROUND?
Yes. We have a combination of small screens, Ipads & large displays to project the video feed too.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE
Our rigs can be operated by one person but we often fly with a remote pilot & a camera operator. It all depends on
the task & environment.
HOW LONG CAN YOU FLY FOR?
Our aerial systems can fly for up to around 20 minutes on a single battery (however we prefer to fly shorter
runs as we don’t like to push batteries to their extremes), after which we need to land the system to change the power supply. Currently, we have several batteries which we bring to a job
pre-charged & the facility to charge on-site.
WHAT IS THE HEIGHT, RANGE & SPEED OF THE
Due to the conditions placed on unmanned aerial systems by the CAA, we are only permitted to fly up to 400ft high,
however, we can apply for extended heights on a job-by-job basis if flying higher is required. We can also fly out to 500m giving us a 1km radius & can if required fly at up to
approximately 50km/ph & need line of sight with the UAV at all times.
HOW MUCH DOES THE SERVICE COST?
We price each flight on an individual basis. Factors including the location, risk, amount of pre-shoot work required
(such as site visits or obtaining special flying permissions, if required) will play a part. We are very competitive & offer excellent value for money.
HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE WILL BE SATISFIED?
We want our clients to be happy. In the unlikely event you are not 100% satisfied with our work we will provide a
no-quibble full refund to you.
